Photography started out as a hobby for me...the early days of wandering the streets in downtown Toronto and buying my first camera in a pawn shop...that was the beginning...and from there I discovered my true passion. I adore the feeling of taking a picture of someone then showing it to them and they've never seen that side of themselves. The intimate moments of mother & child, toddlers growing, families in their own environment...real smiles. And then the moments of a wedding, the anticipation of the day, the giggles, the deep thoughts, the seriousness, the fun, the elation and pure joy, all caught with an eye of a lens. I have been capturing weddings since 1994. A gradual process by word of mouth has brought me to my current successful business, that being my biggest compliment of all. Knowing people have referred my style, demeanor, professionalism, & creativity enough to sing my praises is what drives me. I love weddings, I love family shots, I love people... I'm addicted!
Rachael started out being my assistant for 2 years while we shot weddings around the Lower Mainland. And for the past 2 years has been shooting on her own for FATE Photography. We occasionally still hook up on the same wedding cause we like shooting together. I would have to say she has a very "artsy" eye, and likes to look at the whole picture around her, shooting from different angles and using a lot of open space. She is now my primary photographer in the Lower Mainland area and will go out of her way to understand what it is people are looking for in their shots.
Melanie started working with us in the 2006 wedding season. She is currently a grad of UBC but definitely has a passion for photography. Working with the Artona Group for several years, while going to UBC, shows her dedication to a serious hobby.
Alicia worked with me 5 years ago for a season in her teenage years, it obviously sparked something cause now she is in the Langara Photography program and works full time for Black's Photography. She has an eye for b&w close-ups, and we look forward to having her assist us in this upcoming season.
